Viva La Evolucion!

Celebrate the rebellious great mind of Charles Darwin, the man who gave us one of the most important and all encompassing explanations of the workings of the universe. Today we take for granted how obvious it is that everything evolves, universes expand, matter attracts and forms stars, stars explode and produce heavy elements, the elements attract all over again and form planets, and so on. Even man made creations evolve, just look at the design of cars over the years, each year a new model is brought out to market that is sportier, or faster, or bigger, or more fuel efficient, and as the years pass the car grows to fit our ever changing needs in just the same way generation after generation of living organism changes to fit it's changing environment. To us this common knowledge often brings a yawn and a "yeah so?", yet in Darwin's time he was quite the audacious rebel! He dared to tell the most powerful regime in the world that they were wrong, that goat herders who thought the brains sole purpose was to produce snot were incorrect in assuming an invisible man with magic powers had created everything as it was. But instead everything grew slowly over a very long time changing a little bit at a time. So celebrate a revolutionary who's insights are still changing the world we live in, one who dared to stand up to an organization so powerful it was thought the creator of the universe endowed them with special privileges.
